Erik Parker (b. 1968, Stuttgart, Germany) is a New York-based artist known for his dreamlike, chaotic worlds that exist within his highly saturated and multi-layered canvases. Referencing the traditional genres of portraiture and still-life, Parker draws his inspiration from diverse elements of American subculture, as well as from art historical figures such as Picasso, Francis Bacon, and Roy Lichtenstein. Parker attended the University of Texas at Austin (Austin, TX) in 1996 prior to receiving an MFA from SUNY Purchase College (Westchester, NY) in 1998. He has had solo exhibitions worldwide at The Cornerhouse Gallery (Manchester, UK), De Appel (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), Colette (Paris, France), Honor Fraser (Los Angeles, CA), and Galleri Faurschou (Copenhagen, Denmark), among others. Notably, his works are part of numerous collections worldwide, including the Whitney Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Yale University Art Gallery. Most recently, Erik Parker had a solo exhibition, entitled Full Coverage, at Ross+Kramer Miami.
